Costa Rica Tarazzú

As it has been some time since i wrote here. I thought that this was a good time to do it in.

I decided to use one of my other passions in life, coffee. (And for once in a very long time im actually completly out of beer in my cooler :))

Today im having a nice cup of Costa Rica Tarrazú.

The coffee is very smooth and well balanced. One could say booring, but it has a nice and complex profile with a beatutifull aroma. Also is quite high in acidity.

This coffee is one of my personal favorites atm, along with some of the Ethiopan ones as yirga and harar.

A beer that a couple of friends made at work. Pretty nice ale with a small head. It smells of malt and some hint of spices. A spicy taste with lits of malt (more than im used to). And a spicy malty and a tad bitter aftertaste. A good beer considering that they havent brewed that many batches yet.

Amber in color with a white head. Spicy and fruity aroma suprisingly not so much alcohol in the aroma. Taste of caramel and perhaps nuts and raisins or other dried fruit. some hops and alcohol. and finishes quite dry and bitter.

A nice fruity aroma and some hints of alcohol. A sweet and bitter taste ... some alcohol notes but not to much .. some citrus in there aswell. It finishes with hops and alhocol.

A nice beer. Aroma of fruit and grains. A small taste of alcohol but not to much. A dark taste with some hits of chocolate and perhaps some fruit. And a really fine finish.

It really is cloudy yellow .. a big head very foamy. Aroma of wheat and grape prehaps oranges. A taste of wheat and hops some cloves and yeast. The finish is bitter hoppy and dry. I like this one.

Aroma of banana. A taste of banana. and a small aftertaste of banan. It also has a bitter taste of ale and soem malt. It has a good balance in it. But the aroma is a tad to much for my taste.

After some inactivity ...

Right .. after some inactivity ive reached a point where i have tons of beer to fill in here .. like almost 40 .. i will probably only enter a few ...

And also there has been many "mistakes" when ive been shopping .. like passing by a shelf with beer in the store with lots of stickers that says "NEW" on.

That sticker trigger a part in my brain that says "BUY ME". The brain shuts of and down goes on bottle of each beer.

Like last week i tripped over one beer it had a nice orange sticker on it .. that got translated in my head to that magic phrase in my head. It said "BUY ME" ....

The bottle was 109SEK i didnt check .. i just HAD to have and try that one. Regardless of the price.

And today ... today .. my wallet almost tried to kill me. Those small orange stickers ... But some was out of stock. But that only means that i will have to visit again soon :)

Looks almost like apple juice. Smells of apple and perhaps some sweet yeast. The aroma of sweet apples is nice. Not to bad. And also a nice apple finish. tags Tagged: Cider

A recap of week 18

Whilst enyoing a Kilkenny im thinking about last weeks beer. so much beer and soo little time.

Last weeks high is probably Samuel Adams Honey Porter. A real good beer with just the right taste.

The biggest suprise was Youngs Double Chocolate Stout. A good beer, but a tad to much taste of chocolate. Even though i love chocolate .. its not really what a beer should taste like.

And at last the bottom beer in the pile, Brahma. It was drinkable, but ...  well .. that was it! (On the other hand .. still better than that awfull Miller)

Dark brown with a beige head. Spicy aroma together with malt honey and maybe some coffee. Taste of malt and spices and the sweet honey is there. Very nice balance. It finishes bitter and sweet and a tad dry.

A summary of week 17

While im enyoing the choice for today St Landelin Mythique. A Belgian strong ale. I tought that i would make a small summary of last weeks highs and lows.

The weeks pretty much best beer i had was Orval a Belgian ale. Mostly due to the fruit and spicy taste it had. It was quite refreshing.

And the weeks low was Estrella Damm a common pale lager. Probably suits fine on a hot summer day. But i know better beers for that like Mariestads Export for example.

All beers ive tested has been very nice. All you need is to take some time after work .. and RELAX! :)

Looking foward for the other ones i have in the cooler for this week ...

Ok head. The yellow color is ok. A mild sweet and bitter taste with a mild bitter finnish. An ok lager, nothing more. (And yes i know thats the wrong glass for beer!)
